About the Catholic Group in General Synod

The Catholic Group is the voice of traditional Catholic Anglicans in the General Synod of the Church of England. Members of the group aim to witness to:

  • The faith of the Church, as the Church of England has received it, expressed in her formularies and Holy Scripture, as interpreted by the Catholic Creeds and the consensus of the Universal Church
  • The faith and order of the undivided Church
  • The international nature of the Church
  • The universal mission of the Church
  • The unity of the Church, with particular reference to the work of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission and Anglican-Orthodox dialogue
  • The unity and integrity of the Anglican Communion

The Catholic Group seeks to further its aims by contributing to debates in the General Synod, providing briefing material for Synod debates and by taking part in elections to synodical bodies and offices.

The Group also initiates business in the General Synod and seeks to influence public opinion.
